   The Mad General! Or, "the general character," which is a phrase that happens to be a double entendre for "the general character," which causes a little bit of confusion there at the start. We get derailed brainstorming what his name should be (I guess to avoid future understandings like that,) but don't settle on anything. Meaning: there will be more.

Makonden and Akmonde I definitely like, they still preserve the sort of Nordic feel that Ingstrom had. And character-relate, is there a sort of childishness to his character? Not child-like, but stubborn, refusing to take blame, etc. would explain why he [SPOILERS], but of course no-one believes him yet.

Well, just today I read that cowritten books are really hard to pull off. But I don't suppose that that applies to one guy writing and the next guy re-writing.
(But as a note of warning, it's not "drafts". Just do the final draft, and then make improvements on that if it doesn't work out.)

That's true... and I'd say we do indeed have a good story.
(That's a really good question. We could take a cue from Hollywood and fill it with an explosion or two, and a sex scene. But that isn't very like PoM at all. Quite distasteful. Plus, we've kind of honed the "asexual protagonist" in all this. Hm, does he ever get a love interest? in his past, even. The only person I ever saw where that could make sense is Seth, but I think that's kind of silly addition. I like the idea of the friendship better. An Alexander-Hephaistion, Kirk-Spock kind of thing. And... I'm rambling. What was this even about? Oh, right, the "lag". Um, I don't know. What needs, at that point, some exposition?)

Film Review: War Horse

   Another Spielberg film review, because I wrote it. Steven Spielberg's War Horse takes place in an alternate version of World War One in which all sides, regardless of nationality, speak English as their first language.

   The puppetry in this film is very good. They're puppets, right? In the stage version, at least. If not, they're really taking away one of the major draws of the original show in adapting it to the big screen. Was that on stage, the scene when Joey jumps over a tank John-McClain-versus-fighter-jet-in-Die Hard 4.0 style? If so, then that should be every scene in every play ever.

   I kind of slept through about half of it, so I've got no idea how Joey is drafted into the military in the first place (being a puppet, I guess,) but at least I woke up in time for Benedict Cumberbatch.

   This film should appeal to everyone who likes either war or horses. And that's pretty much everyone.

Film Review: Lincoln

   Steven Spielberg's Lincoln is a film about how terrible movie trailers can be at their job sometimes. In the commercials for the film, Daniel Day Lewis's performance looks like tremendous overacting and ham and cheese on rye, but in the actual film all you can think is, "holy crap, Abraham Lincoln!" It is also, like I had said, about how just because something is politically expedient does not make it right.

   That's... that's really all the snark I have for this movie. Why'd it have t be both so good and based on a true story? Why?

   Oh, I know. It takes place in an alternate version of history where they changed the names of those who voted against ending slavery so their progeny wouldn't be called out on the street. SO, uh, that's something.

Who Needs Blipverts?

   The companies have got us in Skinner boxes, having us locked in a behavior-rewards loop. If they can control us so thoroughly, why are their advertisements so mind-breakingly stupid?

   Advertising is becoming more and more personalized, but is this leading to a dead end? Will the art and entertainment of the future revolve around demographics? Well, each person isn't just a part of a demographic to be pandered to; each person is part of several demographics, which combine in intriguing ways. Even then, though, with the combinations of all the demographics you can combine, that's just one small demographic.

   So advertisers need to not only attract an audience but to expand it, coax people into liking what they would not normally and making them realize that they do like it.

Sugar Faith

   Another OC, Sugar Faith. That's like slang for sweet tooth or something, right? Or, in my head, at least. I didn't really intend for her to come up looking so much like Fluttershy, and I actually modeled her more on Rarity, but there you go I guess. Actually, I kind of think she looks like Jodie Foster...

No, calm down. That's a butterfly, not a moth.

    Yeah, I see the tangency there between the foreleg and the... shank? Yeah, I think so. Shank. (A tangency is when points on two planes in a drawing touch without overlapping, cancelling out the illusion of depth.) Beginner's mistake, I know. There's also one between her chin and the butterfly's wing and one between the top of her forehead and her mane, but those feel more in place, like they'd actually be touching. The one between the legs is less excusable, and originally I was going to fix it digitally, but decided against it as it wasn't worth it.

Answers to Guess the Theme

   And now, the conclusion to the story, which answers the theme:

   These names sounded familiar. And then I realized where I had heard them: Holes, by Louis Sachar. They were the nicknames of the guys at Camp Greenlake. I was trapped in a book!

   Yep, the theme was this, you are a UPS driver who gets kidnapped by fictional characters. What? You thought it was anything different?

   Alright, yeah, you had it. A sentence starting with each of the letters in sequence. It's so obvious, especially when I highlight it like that. But I bet I could do that with posts and you'd be none the wiser (and now I've told you my evil plan. Great.)

Guess the Theme

   At last! Behind me lay all of the other deliveries. Clear before me was the last home that needed a package, and my favorite song began on the radio as I popped out of the van. "Dancing Queen," by ABBA, if you must know. Everything was going on pretty smoothly. Far too smoothly, in fact...

   Great big old clouds crept in front of the sun. Helios, that mighty god, began to shrink, to disappear. It got dark far too suddenly. Just dark enough for me not to see the shovel come out of nowhere and hit me in the head. KRAK!

   Lying there unconscious, I had some pretty strange dreams. Melon balls doing strange little dances through the air. Nexium pills and Vallium pills and all sorts of other drugs began doing feverish swan dives at me. Ouch! Pounding me and pounding me, wave after wave of pills shook my frame, until I began sinking out from the onslaught. Quicksand had saved me, but who was going to save me from drowning? Reaching for the surface, I sputtered and awoke. Someone had dumped me in a small cabin, I could see that much. There were piles of stuff cluttering everything up all around me, so I couldn't really see much. Under me and over me, just as nightmarish as my dream: piles of clothes, books, dishes, overturn board games...

   "Very good," said a voice from the next room. "We've got the mailman. X-Ray, Zero, could you come over here a sec? You just go in there." Zero and X-Ray...?

I like it. Kind of... Vampire-y. And come to think of it, I did write Generation Y on the spot. er... a spot. We could use that spot in the music video. But really I already knew what it would be like, and then just put it in order, went home, and wrote something like that order down, until now it's in its final form like you see here.

But name, name... I rather like that line in the I think second to third last stanza.

Jeez, guys. It's a comic strip. It's suppose [sic] to be funny. Honestly. It makes us wonder if we'll ever be able to return to business as usual.

(*Editor's Note: The word Marvin is actually a Trochee. We just think that "Spondee" is more fun to say.)

NOTES:
   Creative writing class, forms of metric feet. Spondee really is quite a funny word, so, eh, why not? It really is more fun to say than "trochee." First appearance of the Editor, very nice, that's going to be important later. And you can really see me get into my later, smoother style with the artwork here, as opposed to the flatter artwork of previous strips.

   Also, didja catch the visual pun in the way I wrote my name there? Per-A-zzo. I'm not sure if that was intentional (probably not?) but, you're welcome very much.

Trivia Sections

   Go back in the article history of an article on Wikipedia, to a time when the page still had a trivia section. I guarantee it'll cause you to lose IQ points, but at least you'll also learn a lot of pointless trivial crap at the same time somehow. It makes you more smarterer. It makes you more smarter.

   For example, did you know that more '90s sitcom families than are even relevant drink Tang? Who cares, but it's... it's a fact, I guess. A free online fact, that anyone can edit.

   After a crash, I need to come up with the order for the songs on Birds Cracking Foxy again. Song ordering on albums is a pretty serious business, you know, and I think I did a really good job on this one (the song ordering on Felinity Femininity, not so much, but this one is good.) The person with whom I settle Catan at the end there, I'm pretty sure it was Adam.
