Correspondence 6/27/09 15:12 - 16:07

The Mad General! Or, "the general character," which is a phrase that happens to be a double entendre for "the general character," which causes a little bit of confusion there at the start. We get derailed brainstorming what his name should be (I guess to avoid future understandings like that,) but don't settle on anything. Meaning: there will be more.

I got it: an introduction of the general character. Sets him up for the sequel, so that [SPOILERS] can take place much earlier in the story, so [SPOILERS] earlier.

From Persomem to POMegranate   Jun 27, 2009 3:13 pm
Could you elaborate, I'm sorry, but I don't think I understand.

Re: Name
From POMegranate to Persomem   Jun 27, 2009 3:15 pm
An introduction of the General. A scene from his viewpoint. To set his character up for the sequel.

Re: Name
From Persomem to POMegranate   Jun 27, 2009 3:17 pm
Ah, I see, I rather like that idea, as we do need a few more characters.
What shall he be called?

Re: Name
From POMegranate to Persomem   Jun 27, 2009 3:21 pm
...
You go first.

Re: Name
From Persomem to POMegranate   Jun 27, 2009 3:22 pm
Um, something that's kind of like "Ingstrom" or "Mugabe".

Re: Name
From POMegranate to Persomem   Jun 27, 2009 3:23 pm
Ooo, what are those from?!

Re: Name
From Persomem to POMegranate   Jun 27, 2009 3:25 pm
Ingstrom's a Swedish name, and Mugabe is of some African origin.
But, you know, they're real names so we have to mix them up.
But, for the general, I imagine and "African" guy, with the awesome accent and everything.

Re: Name
From POMegranate to Persomem   Jun 27, 2009 3:27 pm
I really imagined him as the dude who wanted to use the MD device to blow up the planet in Children of the Mind, till Valentine's and Peter's aiuic replicas came in and dismantled it.

Re: Name
From Persomem to POMegranate   Jun 27, 2009 3:30 pm
Ha, this guy seems like he could be a likable character, unintentionally so.

And, here are some cool( I thought) African names:
Kalenjin
Makua
Akan
Makonde

Re: Name
From POMegranate to Persomem   Jun 27, 2009 3:32 pm
Well, I suppose he was.
Lots of M's, A's and K's, mebbe a j.

Re: Name
From Persomem to POMegranate   Jun 27, 2009 3:33 pm
Hm... I've got nothing. Makonde sounded coolest to me.

Re: Name
From POMegranate to Persomem   Jun 27, 2009 3:36 pm
But not exactly that name. Arthur is to Arthos as Makonde is to _.
And what's the planet's version of Africa?

Re: Name
From Persomem to POMegranate   Jun 27, 2009 3:38 pm
Um, well, it'd be west of Akkash, I suppose. Hm, we never named continents, come to think of it, but that was kind of intentional. We could name the country though.
Hm... how about Makonden? Akmonde? Makonda?

Re: Name
From POMegranate to Persomem   Jun 27, 2009 3:44 pm
Makonden and Akmonde I definitely like, they still preserve the sort of Nordic feel that Ingstrom had. And character-relate, is there a sort of childishness to his character? Not child-like, but stubborn, refusing to take blame, etc. would explain why he [SPOILERS], but of course no-one believes him yet.

Re: Name
From Persomem to POMegranate   Jun 27, 2009 3:47 pm
Ah, yes, that's exactly what I was thinking.
And, maybe we could combine it with Ingstrom? Or try out some more nordic names.
Halfdan
Yttling
Muren
Inghardt
Latham
Sigfinn

Re: Name

Re: Name
From POMegranate to Persomem   Jun 27, 2009 4:03 pm
None of these are right!

Re: Name
From Persomem to POMegranate   Jun 27, 2009 4:04 pm
I know!
Let's just call him "the general" for now, and worry about it later.
(Though, this is what we did with Nycaster too)

Re: Name
From POMegranate to Persomem   Jun 27, 2009 4:05 pm
And everyone else.
So, the point of the last twenty minutes: we introduce the general.

Re: Name
From Persomem to POMegranate   Jun 27, 2009 4:07 pm
Yep, I suppose that's decided.
