Recently watching Princess Mononoke and Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, I realized I probably should have done so earlier. I'm willing to admit I hadn't seen either before. Miyazaki is worthy of the honor we bestow upon him. Like Jackie Chan, doing all his own stunts (he hand draws or redraws a lot of the animation, guys,) becoming something of a mythic figure in the West, well respected in his own field and deserving of that respect.
I didn't intend that to be racist (they're both Asian,) but I didn't have as much respect for Jackie Chan as I should. He does his own stuns, though, and that's just nuts.
